Given the circumstances and the lack of opportunities young black men have growing up in hostile environments everyday is something to be thankful for. There's something wrong when you've accomplished something by living to be 21. Welcome to poverty. This is what Webbie of Trill Entertainment had to endure throughout his life and he's finding it hard to adjust to success.

Don't be mistaken; Webbie appreciates every fan and every unit sold. Even though he's dropped hit records and has been in the spotlight since 17, Webbie AKA the "Savage" is having problems. He likes to be on the strip, the most dangerous part of town, and he naturally responds to situations the way he would without the fame. In fact, people from his camp are consistently reminding him that he can't live like he used to. However, that's been his appeal to every one of his fans.

Life is going so fast and changed so much that Webbie has to wonder if he's a star or not. Trill Entertainment must think so because they're making a movie about Webbie and Lil Boosie to capitalize on their star power in the South. Besides working on a movie and making Savage Life 2, Webbie just celebrated another great feat. Not having a song in the Top 40, a platinum-selling CD, or anything even related to music. Webbie celebrated life itself as he just made it past 21.

BallerStatus.com caught him on the road to talk for minute about life, fame, and music. In his heavily accented voice, Webbie told us about his problem with fame, his love of the streets, and surprised us with shout-out to an "American Idol?" We know what you're thinking; who?

BallerStatus.com: What up, you're working right?

Webbie: Yeah, we on the road right now finishing up "Ghetto Stories" the movie.

BallerStatus.com: When is the movie set to be released?

Webbie: It's coming out next year. It's going to be about Lil Boosie and me. The fans love our music, so we gone show them what we talk about in the music. My favorite movie was "Menace II Society" and we went and got Kane from that movie for ours. He's going to play my uncle in this movie. We got Hoopz (five more minutes of fame) on there. She impressed me cause she acted so well.

BallerStatus.com: Where did the concept of the movie come in?

Webbie: The love we got for our fans and the Trill family. They love what we do, so we giving them something else.

BallerStatus.com: What do you have planned when it comes to music?

Webbie: I'm go give ya'll more of the Savage Life. I'm calling the next (CD) Savage Life 2 and it's just like my first one. But, I was so young then. You know I'm 22 now.

BallerStatus.com: Yeah, you just celebrated your birthday recently right?

Webbie: Yeah, I was down in Baton Rouge and (Trill) threw me a surprise party. Everybody that was somebody was there. If you had a big name in the hood, you was there. I wasted a drink on my birthday fit, but f--- it. That's how it be when a n---- get to wildin.' But we had a good time though.

BallerStatus.com: With the success of "Wipe Me Down," has there been any major labels trying to get Trill Entertainment on board?

Webbie: Yeah, ever since Savage Life, majors been f---ing with us. I probably shouldn't be saying nothing, but Atlantic getting behind my sh--. I just be rapping and doing me. People loving me and I'm loving it right now.

BallerStatus.com: What are the fans going to get from Savage Life 2 that they didn't get in one?

Webbie: I'm gone give them everything they got in the first one, but more. I'm getting older, so it's gone sound like man getting older. Shout out to the bad bitches. Shout out to my girl Fantasia.

BallerStatus.com: Hold up... where did that Fantasia shout out come from?

Webbie: That's just my homegirl; know what I'm talkin' bout? Shout out to my girl. She gone be mad when she see this, but shout out to her too. I'm just doing me.

BallerStatus.com: What direction do you see things going for you musically?

Webbie: I don't really see no change really. I don't know no other way. I'm just go try to stay on my business and on my game. I can't wake up in the morning and say I'm going to make a change. I've seen so much already. I went to every state and performed. I been overseas and all that. My n----s ain't seen no sh-- like that. I just talked to my n---- that's locked up. He ain't seen none of that. I ain't changing. I did so much in my life I just never got caught. I could locked up and not have the chance to talk to you.

BallerStatus.com: You seem like you're satisfied; is that how you feel?

Webbie: No I ain't satisfied where I'm at. I'm going to keep moving until it's over. But if it ended today, I would be cool. You got to look around [my surroundings].

BallerStatus.com: Do you see yourself working with people outside of Trill Entertainment?

Webbie: Every since I started, every since Boosie started, people been saying that we needed this person or that person to make the record a hit. But we never felt that way about it. Boosie said, "I'm gone be yo Jay-Z." And I told him the same thing. We been making it without anybody doing our records. We keep the production in-house and all that. I did f--- with Mannie Fresh though cause I wanted that sound. I used to bump that Cash Money back in the day.

BallerStatus.com: What are you looking towards in your career?

Webbie: I want to be me no matter what. If I sound like a gold-selling or platinum-selling n----, I want to be Webbie. N----s respect me cause I come to they city and do what I do the way I do it. I'm really just getting into [the business side]. They telling I got to go hard and do these interviews. I'm like, "Am I a star?" I was still popping [in the hood] and my people telling me I can't do this and I got to watch it. I got to work on being more responsible.
