MC Serch Vs. Khia: WTF?

Published: Tuesday - April 29, 2008
Words by Paulie Soprano

MC Serch and Khia
After being dismissed from VH1's "Miss Rap Supreme," contestant Khia went on a media rampage, using any means possible -- including radio, MySpace blogs, and YouTube -- to call the show nothing but publicity for herself, but more so, calling its host, MC Serch, and hater with no hit records.

Of course, the word got back to Serch, who took it upon himself to post his own rant, in response to Khia's disses. It was quite funny to read actually.

Before posting some of Serch's blog, I'd like to ask: why would you even respond to Khia man? The girl is obviously starved for attention. Khia hasn't had a hit since "My Neck, My Back" and that was when? Three or four years ago. It's amazing that song was a hit in the first place, and who's licking her neck, back and crack anyway? Ugggghhhhh.... She wants attention and she's getting it, and this will probably give her just a little more.

So back to Serch, here's some excerpts from his post, the full post can be read here.

First things first, I admire that you sold 800,000 records and had a world wide smash with "My Neck My Back". I was speaking to Talib Kweli today and we were talking about how that record was a world wide smash. In terms of my records sold, you have stated that I have not sold "Nann" the records you have sold. I think you might have been drinking a little too much of your own Kool Aid on that one. Third Bass had three albums, The Cactus Album, Derelicts of Dialect and a remix album call Cactus Revisited. My remix album sold 850,000 albums by itself. Cactus sold 1.3 million and sells 50,000 records a year for the past fifteen years. Derelicts of Dialect which had our Number 3 pop hit "Pop Goes the Weasel" sold 1.4 million records, 565,000 in the first 28 days. My solo record "Return of the Product" sold 350,000 records, so your album did better than my solo album, GOOD FOR YOU! In total I have sold personally as an artist, over 3.5 million records. Last time I did my math, and I am not that great at it, 3.5 is more then 800,000. Sorry ma, check please.

Also I have heard that you have said that I have not had the hits you have had. Again you were spiking your Kool-Aid mama. I did a little research and you really had only one hit. Your Label, Artemis Records (Shout out to Danny Glass) serviced a second single but even your own label could not remember the name of it. WOW. You would think that after such a big hit like the first joint you would at least get a second look and have another record. Third Bass had four (4) top ten R&B singles on our first album (Stepping to the AM peaked at 8, Gas Face peaked at 5, Brooklyn Queens Peaked at 10 and Product of the Environment Peaked at 10) and that was on ONE ALBUM. Derelicts of Dialect had two Top Ten pop records (Pop Goes the Weasel Peaked at 3 and Problem Child peaked at 10) and every single we dropped went Number 1 on the Top Rap singles chart in Billboard including the two I put out on my solo album (Here it Comes and Back to the Grill Again with Nas, Chubb Rock and Red Hot Lover Tone). We were also nominated for an MTV Music Award for Pop goes the Weasel (We lost to LL Cool Jay "Mama Said Know you Out"). Wow, Looking back I am bugging at the records we put out mama. Well it is what it is. I thank you for sending me down memory lane. I don't think I would have even thought about that if it was not for your crazy ass talking all reckless. Thanks ma.

I have also heard you say that I am a hater. This is far from the truth. I am not a hater at all. I was really happy to see you on the show, trying out and getting on. The things these women could have learned from you, being that you were a solo artist, no camp surrounding you, and had the success that you did is unheard of in the rap game. Little did I know that you would wind up being a crazy loonytoon who even as a professional rapper, could not put a rhyme together in 60 minutes and had to resort to reciting something that was two years old. C'mon ma, really?!? Really?!? I mean at least Lionezz tried to write and she can barely speak English, well, you have a hard time with the English language as well but at least it's your native tongue. This competition is for EMCEES, not rappers, which you are. Like I said earlier before, check please.

The thing that I am really happy about is you got the entire country talking about our show. I did so many interviews where the topic was about you. Like "Where did you find her at?' and "I thought she was dead" or "Wasn't she homeless or living in a shelter when she tried out". These people on the radio stations around the country were really interested in what the hell you were doing on the show. They wanted to know if it was really you. I was glad to inform them that you were alive and well and they all wished you the best. I hope that you use this opportunity to call all these stations and continue your rants about, well, whatever your crazy ass wants to beef about, because it means MORE PUBLICITY for the show. Publicity is always a good thing mama, I just hope that after you finish your rant you can hand them a record for them to look at and then not play, and throw in the trash. You see my name in this business has been going on for 20 years. I have been involved in this culture not for the fame or the money, but for the love and that is why I do this show. You did this show for the fame and the money and walked away with neither. My father always said if you chase money it runs away, always let money chase you. Well Khia, you need to stop the chase cause it is obvious that 100,000 thousand is long gone from your future. Check please.

Yes, it's a bit much to read, but it's funny that he took the time out to point out each of his "hit" singles, how much they sold, and how much they continue to sell. Serch claims that one of his past albums still sells 50,000 a year... hahahaha, now that's funny. Nobody's cared about you since "Pop Goes The Weasel" and it was only because of the comedic value of you guys beating up Vanilla Ice in the video.

Serch, I respect what you've done, but Khia might of hit home a little with you, which is why you took the time to write out this long ass letter. So, I'd like to recommend that you stick to your hosting duties, 'cause you sound kinda dumb getting into this back-n-forth with miss no-name Khia. She ain't worth it.

And Khia... yes, you're smart 'cause you're getting everybody to talk about you with your publicity stunts, but you might wanna cool it a little 'cause it's getting a little tired. When no one cares anymore, what's next? Performing "My Neck, My Back" at a local car wash? Hahaha... You were on the show, you got booted 'cause you can't rap, so stop crying about it. Enough already.

Until next time, it's your boy Paulie Soprano signing off. Soprano out.
