Hustle Harder: Follow Your Heart

I had a big disagreement a couple weeks back about a song I wrote with my ex-manager. He explained to me that he didn't believe in it and wouldn't help me to get it where it needed to go. I felt otherwise and this, among other things, was a big reason why he no longer manages me. I am a firm believer that you should follow your heart, no matter what anyone says.
This blog right here isn't black and white. There are a lot of grey areas, but the truth is simple. Never let other people deter you from your goals. It doesn't matter what people think or what they do or don't believe, all that matters is what YOU believe. I can give you countless examples of how people told me "Donny, you can't make it..." or "This is not the right move..." and the infamous "They couldn't do it, so how can you?" But at the end of the day, it's up to you to decide what your future will be.
Imagine if Martin Luther King believed that he was just a "nigger" and wouldn't be able to make a difference. Think about the people who turned down Jay-Z at the labels and what he would have become had he listened to them. What if Alicia Keys didn't make her last album because she was told "CDs aren't selling?" You see, at the end of the day, leaders are the people who stay AWAY from the crowds and popular opinions. Successful people usually are a little left, but it doesn't mean there way of thinking isn't right. There have been times some of the closest people told me to give up on this (sh--, even I've wanted to give up at times, but my heart just wouldn't allow it), but you know something? Those same people are miserable in there own life because they choose NOT to follow there heart.
Jack Danz was a great manager and a good friend. I have no hard feeling towards him and wish him all the best. Regardless though, NO ONE will stop me from where I'm trying to go unless my heart stops beating.
