Hate It Or Love It: Akon Makes Up 'Stan' Stories

Akon
So, it's been about a week since my last blog for ya'll and sometimes I get in a rut where I can't think of any good topics to blog about. There's so much bullshit out there to go through, I get overwhelmed sometimes.

Anyway, I was scouring the internet recently, well, MySpace and I came across a blog entry on Akon's page that kind of pissed me off. It was titled "How This Fan Met Akon."

Now, before I explain why, I'd like to say, I'm pretty sure Akon is too busy to post blogs on Myspace, so I'm sure it was someone that works for him that did it.

Anyhow, in the post, it reads as a letter to Akon from a "Stan"-like fan who proclaims to be the crooner's biggest fan. In the letter, the so-called "fan" who penned it details a story of how he supposedly met Akon.

He goes through this long winded explanation of how he bought V.I.P. tickets to a show in Las Vegas, even though he lives in Texas, to meet the singer, because the package included a meet-n-greet.

Well, he said he spend so much money on the tickets, that he took a three day bus trip from Texas to Vegas just to get a chance to meet his "idol." According to the fan, who goes by Michael, he finally met Akon backstage at the concert, who he chopped it up with, telling him how much he loves every song he's every put out, and get this, shows the singer his Konvicted tattoo.

During the alleged conversation, Akon asked where he was from in which he replied, "Texas," and went on to explain his long trek to get there. Akon was supposedly so moved that he told "Michael" that he was gonna fly him home, because he didn't want him to travel another 3 days home.

Michael, then, after meeting his idol, flew home first class. He explains that it was his first time ever on a plane and how the whole experience was the best of his life.

That's the story, which is kind of outrageous, but almost believable. But here's where it becomes a little fishy. At the end of the letter, "Michael" said that all of this was made possible because he was a member of Akon's official fan club (KonvictedFanClub.com, which has an annual membership of $24.99.

Even at the beginning of the blog post, the fan club is promoted, saying that if fans join, "you have access to experiences like this one from Michael."

What the fuck is that? Even if the story is true, which I highly doubt, how you gonna use it to snake fans into paying to be a part of your fan club, knowing damn well, experiences like those are far a few between?

It's one thing to promote your fan club and make more money, but to come up with a far fetched story, knowing some kids are gonna read it and think it will happen to them, is ridiculous.

This is some bullshit quite frankly, and had been bothering me since I read it, so I had to get it off my chest. In other words, Fuck Akon's staff, who came up with such a bullshit story in an attempt to market the $24.99 fan club membership.
