I gotta show love to Ballerstatus for giving me the chance to speak to everyone. If you don't know me, my name is Tre Williams and I'm on Nas' Ill Will records and am an R&B singer. You may recognize me from "Let There Be Light" on Nas' Hip Hop Is Dead.

Coming from a strong home in a rough neighborhood in Daytona Beach, Florida, I knew I wanted more than what a life in Daytona could offer me. My love for music and my passion to sing would be my ticket out, but I first had to make it past all the pitfalls that stood in front of me. I set out to pave my way and that path led me to NY were, after a lot of grinding and struggle, I signed to Nas' Ill Will label.
Everyone has that one dude in there hood that everyone says "that dude should be on the radio." I happened to be one of those guys. After all the years, I've been given the opportunity to give everyone my views of life the only way I know: through song. I began my journey of creating my album and think that I've got a one of the most anticipated album from a new male R&B artist in the last 5 years The albums entitled The Depth of My Soul Vol. 1 and with the help of one of music's biggest icons, Nas, I will bring you into my world and show you how I envision life after having experienced all my ups and downs and my struggles throughout my days. Right out of the gate, this album starts off hitting reality and ends the same way. The first song I worked on was a song called "Tell Me Who He Think He Is," a song I wrote and recorded in DC with upcoming producer, DC Mack.
The song is about a woman who allows her man to control her because he feels he pays all the bills, and I think there are a lot of women that allow this type of behavior to happen to them, so I try and shed light on the situation. DC Mack was a very laid back dude to work with and even though he's unknown for now, hopefully after this song he should be a new industry name.

I don't feel that you have to have sold 10 million CDs to work with me, I just wanna give people the same opportunity that I was blessed with. So even though some of the people I work with may be pretty unknown the quality of music they bring will be special. On the flipside of that, as we move farther into the project, I worked with a familiar face to me, Devo Harris, one of Kanye West's main producers whom I worked with on Nas "Let There Be Light." He blessed me with a song that was co written by him, John Legend, and myself, called "Back In The Day" and it basically shows that my up bringing was not very different from any other young black youth that came out of the projects. I try to keep my music as real and genuine as possible. Devo and I are also currently working on even more fire for the album. As the weeks go by I'll let you know how the project is coming along and who I'm working with, so ride with me.
Nothing comes easy in life, but if you're willing to sacrifice you will at least give yourself a chance to win and that's all anyone can ask for. That's how I live and I think you'll see that as we get to know each other better. Be sure to leave me questions and comments below and I'll get to them for all of you.
