Get F'ed Up With Bear: I Want My Gangsta Grillz!

Damn the RIAA, damn them!

Ever since they raided DJ Drama and the Aphilliates offices on January 16th, I've slowly seen my favorite mixtape series fade away.

I don't know about you guys, but it fucking pisses me off.

Every couple of weeks, I would look forward to getting my next batch of Gangsta Grillz. I'd walk outside in my DC kicks, grab out a huge envelope from Atlanta, and look at all the goodies that were mailed to me.

It didn't matter if it was the Afromentals mixtape, a Gangsta Grillz, a Groundbreaker mixtape, whatever. If it had the Aphilliates stamp of approval on it, then I knew I was in for a treat.

And that was the beauty of joints like Gangsta Grillz. They weren't like any other mixtape series. Most of the time, it was comprised of original music and exclusive remixes, with ballads from new artists sprinkled in. They were like mini-albums.

To be quite honest, most of the Gangsta Grillz are just as good, if not better than most albums artists dropped.

I still listen to the same ones over and over. TI's The Leak hasn't left my car. Slim Thug's Boss Basics, Little Brother's Separate But Equal and Smitty's Come See What I See are some of my favorites and I still rock them to this day. (On a side note, if anyone knows where Smitty has been, tell him to drop his debut already).

But on January 16th, the RIAA fucked it all up by raiding the Aphilliates offices. Since then, there really haven't been too many Gangsta Grillz dropped. Like a total of two. Yeah, the RIAA may be doing their job and sure, I may be slightly bitter, but the whole situation sucks, even if it's four months after the fact.

Hopefully, this is just a stage and it will all pass over. Hopefully, there will be more Gangsta Grillz and other Aphilliates mixtapes to come out in months to come. And I'm still keeping my eye out for the album. I don't care what anyone says, I'm getting that.

Still, I miss my Gangsta Grillz. They were just so fucking awesome.

Your BFF,
Bear.Fuckin.Frazer
