Buffie The Body first emerged on the scene in 2005. This was right around the time when Beyonce and all the other thick chicks were becoming popularized. Suddenly, being a thicky thick girl got you a thumbs up! However, in Buffie's case, her type of thickness is supernatural, sometimes ass-tronomical and for some it is incomparable.
Unwilling to be stereotyped as the dumb girl with the banging body, Buffie decided she would parlay her derrière into a career outside of modeling. Despite only doing three videos to date, Buffie can say that financially she is sitting pretty. She can also say that she has managed to keep her name out of the round up of hip-hop vixens that do more than model for the rappers. If you can catch my drift.
With the help of magazines like King, Black Men and more, Buffie is a household name in the urban world. Women all over the world are dying to know how to gain a physique like Buffie's. Good news. She wrote a book.
BallerStatus.com: You have an E-book on your site called Get Your Mind Right. What got you into the health aspect?
Buffie The Body: Well, I'm getting older, and my body is changing. I started to see things that I eat, affecting my body. I use to eat any way I wanted to and never had to exercise. Maybe it was just genetics. But then I started to see the little pouch and my stomach wasn't as flat as it use to be. My thighs were getting a little chunky. Some of the clothes that I wear... I was like "Oh no, I can't put that on, it doesn't look right." (laughs) So, I already knew what I had to do. I am known for Buffie The Body, and I don't want to be like three of five years later ...
BallerStatus.com: Eww look at her...
Buffie The Body: (laughs) They will put me all over the internet. They will have one picture of how I used to look and then one of how I look now. I know how they do. Plus, I have to do it for myself.
BallerStatus.com: You gain a lot of attention for your physique. Are there ever times where you feel as though people do not see you as a full person? If so, how do you handle those emotions? Or are you like "F*** all that?"
Buffie The Body: I never really had a problem with people looking at me as a sex symbol. I rather have people looking at me in a sexual way or a messed up way. I guess it's not a bad thing for guys to look. You know, how guy's minds are anyway. It never really bothered me. It's just sometimes when I am going to the store or with my family I will tie a jacket around my waist because sometimes I'm not in the mood for it.
BallerStatus.com: Have you always had this type of body?
Buffie The Body: When I was younger I was thin. I didn't really start gaining weight until about 7 years ago. It wasn't easy to do that. I had to take supplements to get to the size I am. Everyone in my family is super small. My older sister had kids so she is thick. But my mom and dad and brothers are all slim. I had to work to gain weight.
BallerStatus.com: Is there anything about your body that if you could change you would?
Buffie The Body: Ummm, I have always hated my legs. They are too thick at the top and not thick enough at the bottom. I know it is genetics. By my thighs being so big, it makes the bottom part of my leg look so small. I have blemishes on my skin from being a tomboy and fighting. As I got older they stayed on my body.
BallerStatus.com: You mentioned that you were thinner when you were younger, so is everything about you natural?
Buffie The Body: I got breast implants about two years ago. Everything else is natural.
BallerStatus.com: I have a quote from you where you say "Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with Karrine Stephens, but I want to contradict what she is saying." Can you elaborate on that?
Buffie The Body: What I mean by that is that a lot of people look at the industry of video models, vixens or whatever they call us as being bad. It is so tainted. I don't even blame Superhead for that because it was already like that before she came out, so people started thinking that this is how it is. So, everybody is hearing her side and I think that somebody needs to step it up and show the other side. It has got to be somebody who had a story that was just as popular as her. Like I was saying, nobody knew who Superhead was before she wrote this book. She wasn't the main girl in the video, she didn't have a website, she just was nobody who slept around with a lot of people and now everybody knows her now. So I'm somebody in the industry who has her own money, been the main girl in videos, and everybody knows me from just being me. I didn't have to sleep with anybody or tell anybody business. Now I can tell my story. I'm not saying her story isn't true. I'm not mad at her. There are some females in video's doing that and they don't have any money. She just parlayed it into millions of dollars, so that is why I'm really not mad at her. I just want to show people that there is another side to things.
BallerStatus.com: I never hear about you sleeping with any of the celebrity guys. Is it that you never sleep with any of them or are you very selective?
Buffie The Body: For one thing, I know how guys operate. The same guys that I know from the streets are the same guys that are in this industry. I have met just as many rappers or entertainers as all the other girls, but when they pass their number to me and ask "What are you doing tonight?" I tell them I have something to do. If a guy calls you at two in the morning and asks what you are doing then you know what he is on. I am always making excuses not to have to meet them. I don't even like to go out to eat with guys. When I leave there, I go home ... well to the hotel. I don't hang out. For one thing, I don't party unless I am hosting an event. I don't drink or smoke. So, that keeps me out of a lot of things. I'm not going out with a guy like that unless it is a guy I am actually dating.
BallerStatus.com: Are you saying that you have never slept with any of the industry guys?
Buffie The Body: One time in my life. A rapper.
BallerStatus.com: You're not going to tell me who?
Buffie The Body: (laughs) One person. I can't say. I don't want to put nobody's business out there like that. Me and him were actually dating.
BallerStatus.com: Ok, well I also have another quote where you say "Don't think that having a big ass is going to get you half of what I have done." Explain that.
Buffie The Body: It worked for me. It worked for Vida Guerra. I came around in 2005. The big booty scene and being dark skinned, you didn't see that too often. If you saw a girl in the video, they were light skinned, different nationality, lord knows, they wasn't my size. I know I'm the first girl my size to be on King magazine. That goes for all the urban covers. Once somebody decided to try me on a cover and saw that everybody was loving it, then that opened the door. I'm not gonna say my type wasn't accepted, but you just didn't see that. After that, you saw so many girls coming out saying they have a big butt and that their butt was bigger than mine. Now you have all of these girls coming out with the big booties. It's not as in demand anymore. So, now you see the girls coming out trying to be the next Buffie and it's not working for them. Big booties are oversaturated in the industry now. I think that I just had good timing. If I had have came out right now, I wouldn't have made none of this money because there are so many girls who look just like me.
BallerStatus.com: Moving away from your assets, on a lot of the video vixen shows, the darker skinned girls complain that they don't get as much shine or chosen as often as the lighter skinned models. Do you agree with that?
Buffie The Body: I think, the only reason why I have been equal to a lot of light skinned girls is because of my body. I really believe that. If I was just shaped normally then nah. I told my assistant one time, they always say light skinned girls get a lot of play, and I feel like "I'm light skinned, just because of my body. Guys treat me the same way they would treat a light skinned girl." It was a joke, but I really feel like that, but guys are so crazy about big booties. Not only guys, but women too. I get so many emails from women.
BallerStatus.com: Why do you think that is? Sometimes you can literally count the number of dark skinned girls in the video compared to the light skinned or mixed girls.
Buffie The Body: I think it has been going on forever. It was way before I came around. It started to me back in slavery. When they had the light skinned girls in the house and the darker ones in the field. It just has been brought over into now. They don't consider women with darker skin as pretty as women with lighter skin. I don't think it will ever change.
BallerStatus.com: Do you still see that now on video sets?
Buffie The Body: Honestly, I haven't watched a video in a long time. I couldn't tell you who are the models in the videos. I haven't done a video in two years now. I have only done three videos since I been in the industry. I'm sure it is still going on.
BallerStatus.com: When you were doing videos, how was your relationship with the other models? Is it competitive?
Buffie The Body: They really all seem nice. I have never had the kattyness and the arguing.
BallerStatus.com: You are supposed to have a reality show with Vida Guerra. Can you tell me about that?
Buffie The Body: We shot a pilot like a week ago. They really don't want us to talk about it until they finished editing it.
BallerStatus.com: Tell me something that your fans wouldn't know about you.
Buffie The Body: That I'm very business savvy. A lot of people thought I wasn't going to last long. She is known for her butt. How long can she parlay that? Well hey, it's been four years now and I'm still doing me. That is only because most people thought I have no sense at all. I'm working on my own work out DVD. I'm working on branding my own bottled water. I invest my money. A lot of things I do people don't see. I'm still making money. I took all of the stuff that I learned over the last four years and grew from it.
BallerStatus.com: What can we expect from the work out video?
Buffie The Body: I get emails from women every single day about my work out regime. Every woman wants a big butt. It could be a police officer or a pharmacist, but every woman will hit me up about getting a big butt. They ask about shots, surgery.
BallerStatus.com: Those are all things that you haven't done, so you cannot even give advice about that.
Buffie The Body: See, but they think that I have. Even when I tell people that I didn't do it, they won't believe me. It just gets to a point where you have to believe what you want to believe. Really, if you are born with a flat booty then most likely it is going to stay flat. I can tell women what I do to keep my stomach as flat as possible. I do the treadmill.
BallerStatus.com: The guys want to know. What is your ideal man?
Buffie The Body: Somebody who does not have a lot of kids, has his own thing going on, he has to have his own place and car. One child may be ok. I don't smoke or drink so if he drinks occasionally then that is okay. I'm simple. I want the same thing other women want.
BallerStatus.com: Do you have any advice for up and coming models?
Buffie The Body: Yes, on my website, I have a book about it. It is called Get Your Mind Right. I get asked a lot how did I get in the industry. I wrote out what I did to get in the industry step by step. What can they expect at a video shoot, contact information for all of the magazines I have been in. The modeling agencies I have worked with, contracts. I put everything that I have learned in the book.
BallerStatus.com: What is your website?
Buffie The Body:BuffieTheBody.com. Every few weeks I put up an exercise tip. I have a section for my sisters. I discuss nutrition and a lot of other things. Women should go check out the site.
