Sports Talk: NBA 2nd Round Update: Celtics' Sorry Road Record
Wednesday - May 14, 2008

The 2nd round has been good entertainment .. home teams are 17-1.
The Pistons are in the Conference Finals for the sixth straight season; the defending champion Spurs look old and slow, and they're one game away from getting knocked off their throne by the younger, faster Hornets; Kobe injured his back; the Jazz beat the Lakers in OT to tie the series at 2-2; the JAZZ FANS showed they HAVE NO-CLASS when they booed Derek Fisher; and Lebron has brought the Cavs back from 0-2 deficit for the second straight year. But, its the Celtics' 0-5 playoff road record -- after going 31-10 during the regular season -- that take the cake.
The Celtics' coaches have not shown the ability to put in a scheme that can create mismatches, there defense showed no intensity, and the most basic defensive fundamentals seem to have been forgotten. I can see the reasons the Spurs, Lakers and Hornets have lost on the road in the playoffs, but the Celtics not only have lost, but they look lost.
Of the Celtics' big 3 (Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen), none have stepped up to be the leader. The Worst part for Celtic fans is that Doc Rivers has a task he is not capable of completing, and that is to turn the Celtics from a three-man gang to an efficient unit that is capable of slowing down a Lebron James that is coming in to "a zone."
Will they do it? I don't think so, but cast your vote below and let us know.
