Comedian Dave Chappelle was hospitalized over the weekend for exhaustion, according to his publicist, but he is ok.
Chappelle's publicist, Carla Sims, said the comedian checked into the emergency room on Saturday (July 14) and was released a few hours later. The funnyman had apparently been traveling and was diagnosed with exhaustion.
"It was exhaustion; he had been traveling," she said. "He's fine."
Sims refused to reveal any further details regarding her client's hospital visit.
In 2005, Chappelle walked away from a $50 million deal with Comedy Central (see "Dave Chappelle Inks Two Year Deal With Comedy Central") for his popular "Chappelle's Show," when was missing for a short stint before the world found out he was in Africa. He then left the show.
Since then, Chappelle has returned to standup. According to the Associated Press, he broke the endurance record, in April, at the Laugh Factory comedy club in Los Angeles by delivering a more than six-hour-long standup routine.
