Microsoft announced on Friday (March 16) that the forthcoming third installment of their prized "Halo" game series will be available for purchase in different options for three different kinds of players.

Both Microsoft Game Studios and Bungie Studios revealed that they divided the gaming community into three kinds of people: First, those who are really, truly desperate for "Halo 3," then those who are sort of desperate, and lastly those who are just your garden-variety desperate.

So, for those three types of players, the game will be released in standard, limited and legendary editions, adapted for according to tastes and wallet size.

"Halo 3: Standard Edition" is for the casual players, according to John Porcaro, Senior Group Manager at Microsoft's Global Games Marketing Team. It will include the game disc only, will ship in standard Xbox 360 game title packaging and is expected to retail for $59.99.

"Halo 3: Limited Edition" will be packed in a sleek metal collector's case, and will include the standard game disc, a bonus disc that features exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage and videos, and a special "Halo: fiction and art book as well as a high-definition "Making of Halo 3" documentary. It is expected to retail for around $79.99.

Lastly, the "Halo 3: Legendary Edition" will come in a Spartan helmet case within which the gamers will find two bonus disks full of additional content, including behind-the-scenes footage and developer commentaries. This version will only be available in limited quantities, will include a slew of extras and will retail for $149.99.

"Halo 3" is the highly anticipated third chapter of the wildly popular series by Marvel Entertainment Inc., which also includes graphic novel series and apparel line.

The new title will be available for the Xbox 360 gaming console later this year.
