Game Review: Project Gotham Racing 3
Welcome to next generation racing. As one of the X-Box 360's premier launch titles, "Project Gotham Racing 3" (Microsoft) is truly a showcasing for what the system is capable of achieving. Arguably the best looking 360 title yet, PGR3 combines stunning visuals with intense game play and solid replay value. With 80 cars to choose from and a variety of locations, "PGR3" picks up where the last game left off.

With the focus still on kudos, the third edition of the series doesn't break any new ground, but instead solidifies it. With a variety of racing modes that switch your focus from kudos, to speed tests to straightforward races, there is more than enough to keep your attention. The biggest edition to the game is the inclusion of an in-car camera view, which delivers a pure and unadulterated sense of speed and realism. While other racing games have attempted to pull off the in-car feel, none have come close to PGR3.

With the game play remaining the same, it's ultimately the graphics and attention to detail that will blow you away. Every city is an exact replica of the real thing, as you will drive on the Brooklyn Bridge and look at the New York City skyline in amazement. Even in Las Vegas, every hotel, restaurant and famous landmark is evident. Graphically, "PGR3" is just a crisp and clean game. The lighting is absolutely amazing, as different streets will have different affects. You can even see the reflection of your opponent's headlights on your windshield while driving with the in-car view at night.

The only real disappointment with "PGR3" is the game's length. With only 23 circuits, most will be able to complete the game on the normal difficulty in about a week. With racing games such as Forza and Grand Turismo offering career modes that will take you months to complete, one cannot feel a little cheated with the length of the career mode. However, with one of the best online racing experiences available, you will still have plenty more to do after your solo career is finished. Nevertheless, if you are a racing fan with an X-Box 360, "Project Gotham Racing 3" is a must have game.
