NBA's elite, hip-hop alumni and celebs came out in top fashion on Thursday (September 21) to celebrate the launch of 2K Sports new title, "NBA 2K7."
Party goers gathered into New York's Home nightclub to enjoy hip-hop music, via a performance by Rhymefest, free drinks and a celebrity videogame challenge hosted by Shaq.
Playing against Nate Robinson, Shaq got a virtual ass whooping, while players like A Tribe Called Quest's Phife Dog, Quintin Richardson and Channing Fryee, among others, participated in the tournament.
Quentin Richardson helped deliver the charity portion of the tournament, as he presented a $5,000 check to Kaboom, an organization geared toward the preservation and beautification of New York City parks.
Video game heads outside of the tournament were gathered at various kiosks provided for their gaming pleasure, to sample what the game had to offer. It was so crowded that some avid video game fans were hankering for their chance to play.
"A lot of people are in line to play," Melody Anderson of Toyota affiliation, one of the night's sponsors, told BallerStatus.com. "I'm having a good time though, but hopefully, I can play tonight. If not, I still like the game [what I've seen], so I may just have to buy it."
Celebrities such as Nick Cannon, Mos Def, Consequence, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Clinton Sparks came through to enjoy the festivities. While Dan The Automator and Rhymefest teamed up for a one-time-only performance of their song "Bang The Ball" from the game's soundtrack.
Sadat X even came out to have fun. Working on a new album had been taking up most of his time, but he decided it was time to get out of the studio for a night.
"I've been low, but I felt like coming out and hanging," said the rapper. "I play video games, but I've been grinding right now. So, I ain't really played the game like that. I don't want to play tonight because somebody will probably wax me. I need the practice."
X has some time to get some practice in, but he better hurry because the game hits stores everywhere September 27.
The game's soundtrack, Dan The Automator Presents: 2K7, is out now.
