After opening with more than $20 million last month with "Little Man," the Wayans brothers are already hard at work on other new projects.
Marlon just signed on to develop, produce and star in "Pretty Ugly," a comedy about a handsome lifestyle mogul who wakes up one day to see his face is hideous because of a curse. From there, he must find his inner beauty to save his company and win over the woman he loves.
The project originated at DreamWorks, was picked up by Walt Disney Pictures, and recently reverted to DreamWorks, according to Reuters.
In addition, Marlon and his brother Shawn wrote, directed and voiced Nickelodeon's "Thugaboo," a series of animated specials about the trials and tribulations of nine inner city kids.
The cartoon boasts an all-star voice cast including Shawn and Marlon Wayans, their sister Kim Wayans, Michael Rapaport, George Gore II, Aries Spears, David Alan Grier and Charlie Murphy.
The first special, titled "The Wayans Family Presents...Thugaboo Sneaker Madness," aired on Nickelodeon on August 11th and will be available on DVD on August 29th.
The DVD will feature special bonus material including an entertaining behind-the-scenes featurette of the Wayans family discussing the evolution of their first animated project, with in-depth character profiles and anecdotes.
Each special thereafter also includes a themed music video, extending the educational life lessons into memorable songs.
Boasting an impressive all-star voice cast, Shawn and Marlon Wayans are joined by sister Kim Wayans ("In Living Color"), Michael Rapaport ("Dr. Doolittle 2"), George Gore II ("My Wife & Kids"), Aries Spears ("Mad TV"), David Alan Grier ("Life With Bonnie") and Charlie Murphy ("Chappelle’s Show").
On Friday (August 25), the Wayans family held a special screening of the first special for the Boy & Girls Club at Malibu, California's Calamigos Ranch, where Shawn and Marlon Wayans, along with some celebrity friends, joined the kids for a day of fun -- complete with dunk tanks, a Ferris wheel, a velcro jump, great games and a private screening of "Thugaboo: Sneaker Madness."
