Reality TV star Big Black, best known as Rob Dyrdek's sidekick on the hit MTV show Rob & Big, has died.

He was just 45 years old.

Details surrounding his death are currently unknown, but Black (born Christopher Boykin) has struggled with his weight for years.

Big Black was a fixture on MTV for three seasons of Rob & Big, which ran from Nov. 2006 to April 2008. On the show, he was Dyrdek's best friend and bodyguard. He also appeared on Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory.

Despite what appeared to be a close friendship, the two eventually had a falling out.

"It was a strange period, because both me and him... I had been a pro skateboarder for years, so transitioning into mainstream fame was relatively smooth, where for him it was the idea that he was working security two years earlier and now he's on television," Dyrdek said back in 2015 on In Depth With Graham Bensinger. "It was a much different dynamic, but I think we both struggled with... I didn't want to be known as Rob from Rob & Big, and I think he didn't want to be known as the sidekick. So that created a lot of that tension between me and him."

Dyrdek has shared a number of images of himself with Boykin on Instagram, adding that his "heart is broken".

"I don't want to write this post. I don't want to believe that this is reality. I am so thankful for you. We truly were brothers that lived an unexpected unforgettable adventure. I just can't fathom that it would end so suddenly. You will forever be in my heart," he wrote on IG.
