Kodak Black Extradited to South Carolina for Sexual Battery Charge
Kodak Black remains behind bars, and here's the latest details regarding his ongoing legal woes.
The rapper (born Dieuson Octave) was transferred from St. Lucie County Jail in Florida to Florence, SC on Monday (Nov. 28), where he is being charged with criminal sexual conduct, according to Sun Sentinel.
The 2016 XXL Freshman is charged with sexual battery, stemming from an alleged incident earlier this year. "According to investigators, on or about February 7, 2016, Octave is alleged to have engaged in the sexual battery of the victim at a hotel located at 2120 West Lucas Street, Florence, SC," said Florence County Sheriff’s Office Major Nunn.
Despite the charges against him, Kodak Black's legal team believes he will be vindicated. "We are firmly convinced that he will be vindicated in that charge and shortly be set free,” said his attorney Gary Kollin.
Kodak Black faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
He was set to be released from jail in August, after striking a plea deal on a separate charge. However, two warrants were found in the system while he was being released, and he was sentenced to 120 days in jail on drug charges. But now, he faces the criminal sexual conduct charge in South Carolina.
