Pacquiao-Vargas PPV Numbers Manny’s Lowest Since 2008

Manny Pacquiao

The pay-per-view numbers are in for Manny Pacquiao fight against Jessie Vargas earlier this year, and they are low.

Top Rank head Bob Arum tells Ring TV that estimates put PPV numbers at "a little over 300[thousand]", but says they are "still coming in."

If the total holds true, it would make it Pacquiao's least watched fight since his 2008 bout against David Diaz, who he defeated via TKO in the 9th round to win the WBC lightweight title.

Following Diaz, Manny went on to defeat Oscar De La Hoya, making him a superstar, and pushing his PPV numbers to above 400,000 buys every fight since then, with seven of the fights topping one million.

For his fight with Vargas, HBO pulled out of its partnership with Top Rank, who promoted the fight on its own.

According to Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer, the final number is actually closer to 215,000.
