Ray Allen Announces Retirement From NBA
NBA legend Ray Allen has officially announced his retirement on Tuesday (Nov. 1), after an 18-year career where he established himself as one of the best shooters in league history.
The 41-year-old has not played in the NBA since the 2013-14 season, when he was on the Heat.
Allen made the announcement on The Players Tribune, in a post titled "Letter to My Younger Self".
During his career, he was a 10-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion. He finishes as the league's all-time leader with 2,973 career 3-pointers made, 413 more than anyone else to date.
Allen averaged 18.9 points per game in 1,300 regular-season games and shot 89.4 percent from the free-throw line, the seventh-best percentage in league history.
