Kid Cudi Checks Into Rehab For Depression, Suicidal Thoughts
Kid Cudi recently blessed fans with new music, but that's on hold now, as he enters recovery.
In a letter posted on Facebook Tuesday (Oct. 4), the rapper surprised fans by revealing that he's checked himself into rehab... for depression.
"Its been difficult for me to find the words to what Im about to share with you because I feel ashamed. Yesterday I checked myself into rehab for depression and suicidal urges," Cudi wrote.
The 32-year-old says he's been battling demons since he hit the scene in 2008 with his breakout hit, "Day 'n' Nite". "I am not at peace. I haven’t been since you’ve known me," Cudi said.
"If I didn’t come here, I wouldve done something to myself,” he added. "I simply am a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions everyday of my life. Theres a ragin violent storm inside of my heart at all times."
Before signing off, Cudi promised his fans that his new album Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin is coming, though he didn't specify a release date. "The album is still on the way. Promise. I wanted to square away all the business before I got here so I could focus on my recovery," he said.
Cudi is scheduled to perform at ComplexCon on Nov. 5.
