76ers’ 2014 Rookie Joel Embiid Finally Makes NBA Debut
Former lottery pick Joel Embiid made his NBA debut on Tuesday (Oct. 4), when he played in the Philadelphia 76ers' preseason opener against the Boston Celtics.
The 7-foot-2 Embiid scored six points, grabbed four rebounds and blocked two shots in 13 minutes.
"It felt great," he said after the game, reports ESPN. "It was one of my goals. I'm happy I crossed it off the list."
Embiid was selected with the third overall pick of 2014 NBA Draft by the Sixers, but missed the past two NBA seasons, due to foot injuries. He had surgery on his right foot in June 2014 and again in August 2015.
It's unclear what his role is expected to be in the upcoming season.
Unfortunately, while Embiid finally gets his shot, current No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons is expected to miss a lot of time, after breaking his foot during training camp.
