James Harden Moved to Point Guard For Houston Rockets
Although James Harden already has the ball a lot on offensive, he's gonna get it even more next season, because Houston Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni has moved him from shooting guard to point guard, reports ESPN.
D'Antoni will run a new up-tempo offense in Houston next season, and will put the ball in Harden's hands more, which should allow Harden to become more of a playmaker.
Last season, Harden set career highs in usage rate (32.5 percent) and points-per-game average (29), as well as a career-high 7.5 assists per game.
"He's more or less responsible giving rhythm to the team, that's what a point guard does," D'Antoni said. "He's going to be on the ball and he's going to be distributing the ball and it will take some adjusting. He's got a lot more responsibilities as a point guard. A playcaller, a good basketball mind, he's already telling guys we can do this we can do that."
