Conor McGregor-Eddie Alvarez to Headline UFC 205 in NYC
Conor McGregor will return to the Octagon on Nov. 12 to headline UFC 205 in a lightweight title fight against Eddie Alvarez at Madison Square Garden.
UFC 205 will mark the company's first fight in New York since a 1997 ban on mixed martial arts was lifted earlier this year. And for McGregor (20-3), the current featherweight champion, he has the chance to become one of three fighters to win titles in multiple weight classes, joining BJ Penn and Randy Couture.
Furthermore, UFC president Dana White says McGregor will retain his featherweight champion through UFC 205, so it would mean that he would be the first ever to hold those belts simultaneously.
The UFC 205 card also includes a fight between defending welterweight champion Tyron Woodley (16-3) and Stephen Thompson (13-1), female strawweight titleholder Joanna Jedrzejczyk (12-0) and Karolina Kowalkiewicz (10-0), and Miesha Tate returns for a fight against Raquel Pennington.
