Cavs Guard Mo Williams is Retiring
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Mo Williams is retiring.
According to ESPN, the 33-year-old surprised the team on Monday (Sept. 26), when his agent called hours before the start of training camp to reveal the news.
Williams was dealing with chondromalacia (chronic knee pain) last season. Although he debated his future over the summer, he announced last week that he would return for a 14th season... but apparently, changed his mind.
With no Williams, the Cavaliers are lacking in the point guard position, with no definite back-up for Kyrie Irving.
The Cavs did draft a point guard, Kay Felder, with the No. 54 pick last summer; and also have Jordan McRae, who finished the season with the team last year after being called up from the D-League.
Of course, LeBron James is expected to get significant minutes at point guard.
