Former NBA player Samuel Dalembert is facing battery charges for allegedly hitting his girlfriend and her cousin, reports the AP.

Police in Boca Raton, FL say they responded to Dalembert's home Sunday evening (Sept. 11) after a 911 hang-up. When they arrived, the woman and her cousin initially told officers nothing was wrong, but eventually admitted that Dalembert became angry when he found out she was leaving for Orlando with their two children.

The cousin says the 7-foot, 270-pound ex-NBA player pushed his girlfriend down and then choked her when she tried to intervene. He was ultimately arrested on two counts of battery and later released from jail.

Dalembert played in the NBA for 13 years on a number of teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks.
