Afrika Bambaataa Accused of Molesting “Hundreds” of Boys Since 1970s
A number of men have come forward with claims that hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa molested them when they were young teens.
A number of outlets, including the NY Daily News, report that at least three men have accused the rap pioneer of sexually abusing them.
One is a man named Hassan Campbell, who is now 39. He tells the paper that Bambaataa gave him a place to stay, gave him money... but also abused him when he was just 12 and 13 years old. "He had the most fun house in the world," recalled Campbell. "There were celebrities there, musicians, neighborhood heroes. It was the best place to be - and the worst place to be."
"He is a pervert," Campbell added. "He likes little boys."
Democratic Party activist Ronald Savage has also come forward, claiming Bambaataa abused him at least five times in 1980, inflicting deep emotional wounds.
A man named Shamsideen Shariyf Ali Bey, claiming to be Bambaataa's former bodyguard, has also come forward, claiming he witness the rapper molest boys since the 1970s... saying the number could be in the "hundreds".
"There's always a boy in his house. When he leaves and gets home, there’s always a boy there," he says. "I've seen them camped, asking him for money. He travels with late teens, those are the ones he takes overseas with him. When I went with him on tour in the states, I'd stay in one room, and he would have boys in the room with him... Since the 70s, it’s been hundreds... I can say I’ve walked in on stuff where I say, what the f*ck is going on?"
Bambaataa's Zulu Nation have since issued a statement claiming the allegations are all a part of a government conspiracy.
