Johnny Manziel To Be Indicted For Fight with Ex-Girlfriend

Johnny Manziel is set to be indicted on assault charges this week, stemming from a domestic spat with his ex-girlfriend earlier this year.

According to ESPN, prosecutors have notified the former NFL quarterback that a grand jury is expected to sign off on a misdemeanor assault charge for family violence. He could face up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Attorney Robert Hinton said he expects to see Manziel released on bond after the charges are delivered, but says there's been no discussions about reaching a deal before trial... yet.

The indictment stems from allegations by his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, who claims Manziel hit her as they drove back to her apartment after a heated argument. Weeks later, she was granted a protective order that requires Manziel to not see her for two years.

An indictment could further hurt Manziel's chances of playing in the NFL again. He was cut by the Cleveland Browns in March, has been dropped by two agents, and no longer has endorsements.
