“Batman v Superman” Sees Huge Decline, But Tops Box Office

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

After a huge opening weekend, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice saw a steep decline in its second weekend at the box office.

The film fell 68-percent, but still earned $52.4 million to easily beat out new releases, God's Not Dead 2 and Meet The Blacks. To date, Batman v Superman has earned over $261.4 million domestically and $421.4 million overseas for a worldwide todal of $682.8 million.

However, it has been heavily scrutinized for falling flat, which isn't good for a DC Comics Universe that has a number of upcoming films planned -- including this summer's Suicide Squad and next year's Wonder Wonder and two Justice League movies.

God's Not Dead 2 opened in fourth place with $8.1 million, while The Purge parody, Meet the Blacks, earned just only $4.1 million for an eighth place debut.

That's a wrap for this weekend. See this weekend's top 10 below, and next weekend, look out for the release of the first-person action/thriller Hardcore Henry, the Kate Bosworth horror Before I Wake, and Melissa McCarthy's The Boss.
