Young Thug Accused of Stealing Cover for “Slime Season 3”
After Young Thug dropped Slime Season 3 this week, someone has come forward claiming the rapper stole the illustrated image for the project's cover.
A Reddit user posted a thread on Friday (March 25), claiming his girlfriend drew the image for Thugger's cover weeks ago and posted it on Instagram. Then, it appeared as a cover for one of the album's singles, and then, as the official cover for the commercial release of Slime Season 3.
Since the Reddit thread popped up, Young Thug's designer Fano has replied, claiming he had gotten in touch with the artist and promises she will be compensated.
"I had nothing to do with choosing this album art," Fano explained. "Thug randomly picked her picture and it was sent to me and asked to be edited. No one in the camp knew who created the original until yesterday. We tried to find the original artist before release to no avail.
"I spoke to her yesterday and she IS being compensated for her work," he continued. "I never claimed to be the creator of the cover nor did I put my logo on it. The altered cartoon version that was made by me was just fan art and a reinterpretation of the cover. I was not paid for it and I tagged her as soon as I found out."
Slime Season 3 is available now on iTunes.
