Rafael Dos Anjos Withdraws From UFC 196 Against Conor McGregor
Ouch, UFC lightweight titleholder Rafael dos Anjos has been forced to pull out of UFC 196, against Conor McGregor, due to a broken foot.
The two were set to face off on March 5th in a title fight.
At press time, McGregor (19-2), who is the current featherweight champion, had not yet been pulled from the card.
Sources tell ESPN that the UFC is looking at potential options to keep McGregor on the PPV card, which also features Holly Holm... in his first title defense since she knocked out Ronda Rousey last fall.
McGregor was hoping to make history against dos Anjos by becoming the first fighter to hold titles in multiple weight classes simultaneously.
Back in July 2015, then-featherweight champion Jose Aldo withdrew from a defense against McGregor on less than two weeks' notice, due to a rib injury. The two would eventually fight at UFC 194 on Dec. 12, during which McGregor knocked out the longtime champ in 13 seconds.
