Dr. Dre has signed on to star in Apple's first original series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series, which is entitled Vital Signs, is being billed as a semi-autobiographical drama series that follows Dre's character, as he deals with a "different emotion" each episode.

Citing unknown sources, THR describes the show "as a dark drama with no shortage of violence and sex." In one episode, which filmed this past week, there was "an extended orgy scene", filmed in a mansion in the Bird Streets neighborhood of the Hollywood Hills.

Veteran music video director Paul Hunter has been tapped to direct the series' six-episode debut season, which is being funded by Apple. Actors Sam Rockwell and Mo McCrae are also said to be among the cast.

The entire first season of Vital Signs will be released all at once, though a release date is currently unknown.
