Nearly a year ago, reports surfaced that Apple had filed patents for its own virtual reality headset. Now, it appears their tech may be closer than believed.

According to the Financial Times, Apple has assembled a massive team of "hundreds" of employees, who are hard at work on the company's own augmented and virtual reality technologies.

The team is full of acquisitional hires, which the tech giant has made as of late, including Lytro -- the team behind the Immerge Light Field camera.

Apple has also hired VR vet Doug Bowman.

There's no official word, but its certainly in the works.
