Packers Legend Jerry Kramer Selling Super Bowl I Ring
Former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Jerry Kramer is set to auction off his championship ring from the first Super Bowl.
According to Green Bay Press Gazette Media, the ring is one of 60 items Kramer is selling through Heritage Auctions, including his game-used jersey from Super Bowl I and his Packers Hall of Fame ring.
The 80-year-old played with Green Bay in the 1960s, during which the team won five NFL championships. He was also a three-time Pro Bowler and part of the NFL 50th Anniversary Team.
Kramer told the paper he's selling the items to clear his house of things he doesn't need and plans to use the money to create a college fund for his five grandchildren. "There was an awful lot of stuff in there that I'd forgotten about," he said.
A conservative estimate has the ring selling for $100,000 during the Feb. 20 auction.
While he's selling his first Super Bowl ring, Kramer declined to sell his Super Bowl II ring, saying it means too much to him.
