Rocker David Bowie Dead At 69
Legendary rocker David Bowie passed away over the weekend at the age of 69 years old.
His business manager Bill Zysblat confirmed that he died on Sunday (Jan. 10), following an 18-month battle with cancer.
"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer," read a statement on Bowie's Facebook page.
Details about his illness were unknown.
Bowie shot to fame in Britain in 1969 with "Space Oddity", whose words he said were inspired by watching Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey while stoned. His stardom rose to new heights in 1983 when he appeared on the cover of Time, following the worldwide success of his 1983 hit, "Let's Dance."
