Suge Knight’s Lawyer Says He’s Being Treated Unfairly
Suge Knight has been sitting in jail for a year, awaiting trial for murder charges, stemming from a hit and run in January 2015 on the set of Straight Outta Compton, which resulted in the death of two men.
He's also being held on $10 million bail, which his current lawyer says is unfair.
In an interview with The Wrap, Knight's Lawyer Thomas Mesereau said his client is being treated unfairly by the justice system.
"He should be at home and he should have been granted reasonable bail, like everybody else," Mesereau says. "This case is going forward because of who he is, not because of anything he did that was wrong."
After his arrest, a judge set his bail at $2 million, but upped the amount to $25 million in late March, claiming that he is a flight risk. It was eventually reduced to $10 million, which he's unable to post.
Suge Knight's next hearing is set for Feb. 26, at which his trial date will be set.
