Adele’s “25” Album Sells 3.38 Million Copies In First Week

Adele's return is huge!! Her new 25 album has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week, shattering records with a staggering 3.38 million copies sold in its first week.

According to Billboard, the number is the largest single sales week for an album since Nielsen began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. Additionally, 25 is the first album to sell more than 3 million copies in a week in Nielsen history.

25 breaks the previous one-week sales record held by N-SYNC's No Strings Attached, which opened with 2.42 million copies in March 2000. It is also the 20th album to sell at least one million copies in a week, and already the biggest selling album of 2015 (surpassing Taylor Swift's 1989).

The album is Adele's first in four years, following her 2011 break-out release, 21, which spent 24 non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200... and selling more than 11.2 million in the U.S. to date.

The first single, "Hello", smashed VEVO views records when it dropped in late October, garnering more than 27.67 million in the first 24 hours.
