Mobb Deep’s Prodigy Suing Universal Music Over Royalties
Prodigy is suing Universal Music for illegally taking royalties from his solo work, reports TMZ.
According to legal docs, Prodigy and Havoc entered into a contract with Universal back in 1995, as the group Mobb Deep. Under the contract, the duo signed over half of all profits from future albums and songs.
However, Prodigy says the deal does not extent to music he made outside the group... which they continue to collect on.
The rap legend claims Universal Music is taking 50% of royalties from his solo projects, as well as songs he wrote for other artists. He says he's lost $57,489, according to the suit.
Prodigy has filed a lawsuit, demanding he get all the money back, plus attorney fees.
