Lakers Coach Says Kobe Bryant Has Hinted At This Being Last Season
Although he's yet to publicly say it, Lakers coach Byron Scott said star Kobe Bryant recently told him, for the first time, that this could be his final season.
According to the coach, the conversation happened in the past few days... during which Kobe revealed that he might retire after the 2015-16 campaign, his 20th with the Lakers. "That's the first time that he hinted to me that this might be his last year," Scott said over the weekend, according to ESPN.
Despite the conversation with coach Scott, Kobe continues to maintain that he's yet to make a decision... but will decide after this season.
Scott said he expects Bryant to play in both games of an upcoming back-to-back set this week in Miami and then Orlando because, as Scott said, Bryant told him, "Coach, again, this might be my last year, so if possible, I would like to try to play every game.' "
Kobe, 37, is in the final year of his contract with the Lakers and has said all along that this could be his final season, though he hasn't fully committed to retiring.
