Raiders’ Charles Woodson Finally Intercepts Peyton Manning
Although Oakland lost to Denver on Sunday (Oct. 11), Raiders cornerback Charles Woodson finally got an interception on Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning... the first in 18 years.
The veteran CB picked off Manning in the final seconds of the first half, as the Broncos marched deep into Oakland territory. Then, he did it again in the third quarter.
Prior to the two interceptions, the 63rd and 64th of Woodson's career, he had never picked off a pass from Manning in their 18 years in the league, reports ESPN. Furthermore, it was the fisrt time, a player 39 or older had ever intercepted a quarterback 39 or older.
Manning was the No. 1 overall pick in 1998, and Woodson was the fourth overall pick.
Woodson hoped to get an interception on Manny prior to Sunday's game. Last week, when he turned 39, he told the NFL Network: "It would be great, man. He's eluded me for 18 years. It would be great. It would be even better if we could come out with the victory. But it would be great to get my hands on one of Peyton's balls."
