Raiders’ Aldon Smith Pleads Not Guilty To DUI Charges
Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith has pleaded not guilty to hit and run, drunken driving and vandalism charges, stemming from an arrest in early August.
The 25-year-old was arrested in Santa Clara on drunken driving charges on Aug. 6, after striking a parked car in the shared parking lot where he lives.
Following the incident, Smith was released from the San Francisco 49ers, but a month later, signed to the Oakland Raiders.
It was the latest in a number of off-field incidents for the troubled linebacker. In April 2014, Smith was randomly selected for a secondary screening at LAX, when he became uncooperative, telling a TSA agent that he had a bomb. Fortunately, no charges were filed. Also, during the 2014 NFL season, he received a nine-game suspension for what the league called violations of its policies on substance abuse and personal conduct.
