Curren$y & Damon Dash Reach $3 Million Settlement In Lawsuit
Curren$y and Damon Dash have reached a $3 million settlement in their long-running lawsuit, reports The Jasmine Brand.
Curren$y filed the lawsuit against Dash back in 2012, seeking $1.5 million in damages for releasing two albums without his consent. In response, Dash called the suit "a potentially frivolous litigation."
While working together, Curren$y would go on to sign an imprint deal with Warner Bros. Records in 2011 for his own Jet Life Recordings. However, he claims Dash ignored the deal and went ahead with the release of Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk II.
During litigation, Dash reportedly blew off the legal battle, prompting his lawyer to drop him. So without representation, Curren$y demanded a default judgement, which he was granted.
In 2014, Curren$y returned to court, demanding $2.9 million in damages, along with $95,000 in legal fees.
This month, documents were filed in the case that revealed that a settlement was reached and the case was to be dismissed.
