Test-Driving The All-New 2016 Lexus RX
Lexus recently invited us out to Portland, OR to become among the first to see and test-drive their all-new RX crossover SUV.
The 2016 model had us in awe with its impressive new design, both inside and out. The RX is extremely popular for people looking for the flexibility of a sport-utility vehicle and the comfort of driving a luxury sedan. In its latest iteration, Lexus made the model bolder with an athletic body style, but still kept it classy with refined details, which exceeded our expectations. For almost 17 years, the RX has been one of the brand's top-selling cars and it continues to lead the pack.
With all the crucial updates to the model, there was plenty to like about it. For instance, based on the design theme of "seductive strength," our first impression of the RX was its gallant and prominent stature, which gives it a premium look. The fusion of sharp lines and curves serve as a striking and daring design element that kept our eyes locked. One of our favorite aspects of the exterior was the new look of the grille and the premium Triple-Beam LED headlamps, offering a fierce front end.
Aside from the beautiful exterior, the RX's interior is just as impressive. Lexus repositioned the angle of the steering wheel by two degrees, allowing drivers the simulation of driving a sports car. Improvements to the design of the center console add more functionality, while still keeping it stylish. Furthermore, the quiet cabin reduces the level of noise and vibration when riding in the RX, allowing passengers to hold a conversation with plenty of clarity.
While touring the roads of Portland in the Lexus RX, we noticed the punchy acceleration, precise and responsive steering, and tremendous deft as he navigated the curvy roads.
The 2016 Lexus RX will be available in four distinct models, including the first-ever RX Hybrid F SPORT.
