Nicki Minaj Fires Back At Miley Cyrus On Stage At MTV VMAs
After Miley Cyrus blasted her over her feud with the MTV VMAs, Nicki Minaj fired back at the pop star during the awards ceremony on Sunday (August 30).
While on stage, accepting the award for Best Hip-Hop Video for "Anaconda," the rapper thanked her pastor before quickly taking aim at host Cyrus.
"And now back to this bitch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what's good?" Nicki said to Cyrus, who was standing on another stage.
"We're all in this industry, we all do interviews, and we all know how they manipulate sh*t. Nicki, congratulations!" Miley said while the camera cut to Minaj, who looked at her like she was ready to fight. Nicki did crack a smile at the end.
Although it was unclear if it was a joke, Nicki later tweeted, "Lmfaooooooooooooo."
Here's what led up to the incident. Shortly after nominees for the 2015 MTV VMAs were revealed, Nicki expressed frustration over being snubbed in the Video of the Year category for "Anaconda."
In a recent interview, Miley said the rapper was wrong for the way she went about it.
"If you want to make it about race, there's a way you could do that," she told the New York Times. "But don't make it just about yourself. Say: 'This is the reason why I think it's important to be nominated. There's girls everywhere with this body type.'
"You made it about you. Not to sound like a b**ch, but that’s like, 'Eh, I didn't get my VMA.'"
