Horror Film Legend Wes Craven Dies At 76
Wes Craven, known as the creator of iconic horror franchises Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream, died Sunday (August 3) after battling brain cancer at the age of 76.
According to THR, Craven died at his home in Los Angeles.
The film legend re-invented the youth horror genre in 1984 with the horror classic, A Nightmare on Elm Street, which he both wrote and directed. The franchise has produced nine films over the years... and introduced the now-iconic Freddy Krueger character, who has horrified viewers for years.
Similarly, Craven's Scream series was a box-office sensation.
Craven is survived by his wife, producer and former Disney Studios vice president Iya Labunka.
