“Straight Outta Compton” Tops Box Office In Second Weekend

Straight Outta Compton continued its reign at the top of the box office this weekend, beating out a trio of new releases.

The N.W.A. biopic earned $26.7 million in its second weekend, raising its two-week domestic haul to over $111. 4 million to date.

As for new releases, the horror sequel Sinister 2 was the top film, opening with an estimated $10.6 million -- well below the $18 million the 2012 original debuted with, allowing it to take third place. Fox's assassin thriller, Hitman: Agent 47, landed in fourth with $8.2 million to start... in the second attempt in eight years to adapt the popular video game. And finally, Lionsgate's stoner action-comedy American Ultra, starring Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg, flopped, debuting at #6 with $5.5 million.

Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation held down the #2 spot with $11.7 million in its fourth weekend of release, while The Man From U.N.C.L.E. closed out the top 5 with $7.4 million.
