Social Fan Campaign Launches For “Fear The Walking Dead”
With AMC set to premiere the new Fear the Walking Dead series this Sunday (August 23), a pair of ad agency freelancers launch a fan project on Instagram in support of the series, called @CheertheWalkingDead.
As a Los Angeles-based spinoff of the original series, the series offers a look into how the zombie outbreak started.
Once Charlie Noback and Brian Engleman, ad agency freelancers and superfans of the show, heard about the new show, they were ecstatic to contribute to The Walking Dead community... via the launch of a social media campaign.
"It's just what Los Angeles needs, right?" Noback says. "... fewer brains."
The Instagram profile is filled with Walking Dead-inspired imagery, and has nearly 8,000 followers, as of press time. However, the pair are hoping the entire community of fans will submit and share their own executions.
"There are so many overworked ad professionals right now, sometimes I think we're the real zombies," said Engleman, who together with Noback, hope their side project re-energizes themelves... and others like them. "I hope by getting the word out, we'll help turn some zombies back into ad professionals," says Noback.
The #CheerTheWalkingDead campaign will be running throughout the series, which begins with six episodes. You can visit the @CheertheWalkingDead IG profile, while submitting your own executions to their page by using the hashtag: #CHEERtheWALKINGDEAD.
