Ronda Rousey Says She Could Beat Mayweather In “No-Rules Fight”
The fued between UFC star Ronda Rousey and boxing star Floyd Mayweather continues.
On Monday night (August 10), when asked by a fan in a Reddit AMA chat whether she could take Mayweather in a no-holds-barred bout, Rousey made it very clear.
"Floyd is one of the best boxers of all time," Rousey wrote. "He would definitely beat me in a boxing match. I unfortunately don't get into 'matches.' I fight for a living.
"In a no-rules fight, I believe I can beat anyone on this planet," she continued. "Boxing is a sweet science with strict rules that I respect very much and aspire every day to improve at. But you said ruleless fight, and that's my honest answer."
Last month, Rousey jabbed Mayweather during the 2015 ESPYs, after taking the Best Fighter award. "I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once. I'd like to see him pretend to not know who I am now."
Since then, Mayweather has shot back, congratulating the UFC women's champ while appearing on ESPN, but pointed out that he makes more money.
"I want to say congratulations to Ronda Rousey and the UFC," the boxer said. "You guys have done a tremendous job, and I've won probably six or seven ESPYs for fighter of the year and actually believe she deserves it... I've yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes. When she can do that, then, call me."
