Tristan Thompson May Leave Cavs Next Summer, If No Max Deal
Despite a successful run to this year's NBA Finals, Tristan Thompson and the Cleveland Cavaliers are stuck at a stalemate, in regard to his contract.
According to ESPN, the center is seeking a maximum-level contract of around $94 million over five years, but the Cavs' offers have been for significantly less.
So, if a deal isn't reached, Thompson is expected to take a one-year, $6.8 million qualifying offer to become an unrestricted free agent next summer... when he could be one of the free agency's top targets.
The 24-year-old is a strong offensive rebounder and pick-and-roll player, who was a valuable piece of the Cavs squad on their run to the Finals.
