Floyd Mayweather Puts Muhammad Ali 5th On His “Best Ever” List
Floyd Mayweather doesn't call himself "The Best Ever" for nothing. In fact, the boxing star feels he's the best fighter of all-time.
During a segment of ESPN Deportes late last week, Floyd ran down his "The Best Ever" list, placing himself above Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano and even Sugar Ray Leonard.
Surprisingly, Ali -- who is widely considered one of the best boxers in history -- was placed in fifth place.
"Muhammad Ali lost to Leon Spinks, and Leon Spinks only had seven fights when he beat him," Mayweather said, before adding that he was "only at one weight class."
"Ali really lost all three times to Ken Norton," he added.
As he continued his explanation, Mayweather did credit Ali for the influence he had on the world. "Ali was the greatest for standing up in an era where black people didn't stand up for each other," Mayweather said.
