“Ant-Man” Edges Out “Pixels” At Weekend Box Office

Marvel's Ant-Man beat out Pixels at the box office this week... by an ant-sized margin.

The new superhero film earned $24.8 million in its second weekend, edging out Pixels, which debuted with just $24 million.

In Pixels, which stars Adam Sandler, aliens misinterpret video feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war, and ascend on Earth in the form of the video games.

Minions fell to #3 with $22.1 million, while Trainwreck comes in fourth with $17.3 million.

Other wide releases include the boxing drama Southpaw closes out the top 5 with a $16.5 million opening; and Paper Towns, an adaptation of John Green's novel, opened in sixth place with $12.5 million.

That's a wrap for this weekend. This upcoming week, look out for the release of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and hte Warner Bros. comedy, Vacation.
