50 Cent Claims His Lifestyle Is All For Show, Only Worth $4M
50 Cent, who has been long considered one of the wealthiest moguls in hip-hop, says the lifestyle people see... is all fake.
According to Page Six, the rapper was ordered to testify about his finances in Manhattan Supreme court Tuesday morning (July 21), where he claimed his lifestyle was all for show... like rappers portray in music videos.
"It's like music videos, they say action and you see all these fancy cars, but everything goes back to the dealership," 50 Cent said in his testimony, where he was all smiles for the jury.
"Those cars are rented," he said, regarding the fleet of Lamborghinis, Bentleys and Rolls-Royces he's seen driving in.
Well, what about the jewelry? Borrowed, 50 Cent claimed. In court, he said he actually owns just three gold chains, which he has a jeweler customize into a new piece every so often.
50 filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this month, claiming he's over $28.4 million in debt -- including recent lawsuits such as a $5 million judgement over a sex tape of Lastonia Leviston, the mother of rapper Rick Ross' child; and over $18 million to Sleek Audio, who claims he stole technology to build his SMS headphones line.
The rapper said he's worth no more than $4.4 million, claiming he only made 10 cents/each from the 38 million albums sold throughout his career, totaling $3.8 million.
However, Forbes estimated, back in May, that his net worth wa somewhere around $155 million.
