Hopsin Addresses Eminem Comparisons
Hopsin recently addressed Eminem comparisons he receives from fans, some of which call him the "Black Eminem."
During an interview with Vlad TV, the Los Angeles rapper doesn't mind the comparisons, though he doesn't feel
"They can say that as long as they don't say, 'You're wack. You can not rap those bars. They're weak.' I would feel bad if they say that," Hopsin said.
Later, he points out that the comparison is more from a technical standpoint, though fans might not recognize it.
"I think there is similarities, yes," Hopsin says. "In the way that I rhyme and because I use multi-syllables when I rhyme a lot and he does that as well. He's one of the best that do it, so that comes up. There's more rappers doing it now, but when I was first coming out, there weren't a lot of rappers that were doing heavy multi-syllables and so that's why people got just the resemblance of them hearing that."
When asked if he'd ever want to work with Eminem, he says it'd be up to Em if it ever happened.
"I've never met the guy," he says. "I don't know anything. I don't have any attachments to him. I don't know if he even knows who I am, so I couldn't say. I'd have no idea. It'd be up to him. I can't just post a tweet like, 'Yo, Em, give me a call, bro.' It doesn't work like that....It's not on my list of things to do. If it ever happens, it happens, but I won't be mad if it doesn't."
